While there, they discovered a natural pool of water, carved from a solid rock and created by Mother Nature. Two natural streams fed the pool—one pure, cool, and crystal clear, originating in the Andes, and the second contained warm mineral water from a volcanic hot spring.

The blend created a lukewarm pool, surrounded by a colorful variety of orchids, plants, exotic fruit and other trees, and beautiful birds. While enjoying the pool, the young Fabian fell in love with the beauty and life of the rainforest. In his 20s, Mr. Lliguin returned to the spot so cherished in his childhood memories, only to find the pool filled with concrete and surrounded by dust and dry land.

In the middle of the Amazon rainforest lay a secret waiting to be discovered by two creatives, Fabian Lliguin and Anna Ayers. As Anna was the last customer in the salon and it was late, Fabian invited her to dinner to finish a conversation that had started while he was doing her hair. While discovering their mutual passion for nature, art, and environmental work over dinner, they fell in love.

Lliguin, being of Incan descent, had always admired the lush quality of the Amazon rainforest, its rich textures and colors that were also an aspiration for Ayers work. Through various environmental mission trips, the couple deepened their love for the rainforest, increased their appreciation of Amazon people, and fell further in love.

On one mission, the couple met with the indigenous Quechua-Shuar tribes. As a young girl, I was immersed in a household of strong, entrepreneurial women who loved beauty. My grandmother would host spa parties in her house every weekend and invite all these women to come try her hair mask or body scrub. I loved helping her make the products from scratch using local Colombian ingredients. I would watch her teach the women how to take care of their skin and noticed how much more confident and beautiful they would feel afterward.

From a young age, I had a growing appreciation for helping women embrace their individuality and be the best version of themselves.

When I started to formulate my own products, I thought there was no better way to see if they worked than hosting my own spa parties. Trial and error and listening to the feedback of those I loved and trusted resulted in a line of products that are high performance and deliver incredible results.

Still today, one of my favorite parts of my job is hosting beauty classes and helping women feel confident and more beautiful in their own skin. Karyn Eilber, a urologist who specializes in female pelvic medicine. Together, they created Glissant, a line of natural lubricants free of hormones and chemicals that arrived on shelves last year.

I definitely care about people, which is part of my faith. Having a Mexican grandmother and a Jewish grandfather, I learned a blending of religions that gave me a broad view of the world. The son of hairdressers, Fabian Lliguin followed in their footsteps, moving from Ecuador to New York City to pursue his craft.
