Dallas covenant basketball

Can you imagine being on Dallas Academy's side, on the bench, in the game. How hard would it really be to play that entire game? Can you imagine yourself playing NBA Live, losing , and you can't turn the game off, you have to finish it? In my opinion what the coaches and players of The Covenant School did on Jan.

And this teenager girl might not understand it now, but the rest of their lives they will look back on the girl and hopefully feel some remorse and dishonor for what they did. As for the coach, he is suppose to be an example not only off the court, but on the court as well for these girls.

Continuing to put on a full-court press and run up the school that badly is a horrible example to be teaching his girls. And I would now ask him to close the book on this incident and do the right thing by going into his athletic director's office and signing his resignation. When they finally huddle around their quarterback, the boy knows two things to be true. First, win or lose, it will be together. They are a team in the most fundamental - in the most true - sense of that word.

Second, they will win. They are the Knights. Her Saturday is filled with drills - cone drills, one-touch shooting drills, corner kick drills, and passing drills on counter attacks.

While friends kick beach balls into the lake, she kicks soccer balls into a net her dad sets up in their backyard. She is humble enough to realize talent alone will not get her on the pitch - Covenant is blessed with amazing student-athletes - but there is another way.

She can earn it, and she will. The team decided to turn a losing situation into a learning one, starting with a lesson in defense. Once the lopsided victory became public, the Covenant School issued an apology and asked the league to allow it to forfeit the game because "victory without honor is a great loss. The school and its representatives in no way support or condone the running up of a score against any team in any sport for any reason.

But the Dallas Academy Bulldogs might already be the big winners. They've taken away valuable lessons about sportsmanship, teamwork and perseverance. They play because they enjoy being together. But we get closer every year. Covenant would not get any closer.

The Scots shot Covenant held its own on the boards as both teams collected 35 rebounds. The Comets were held to Covenant will break for Christmas. The Scots are tentatively set to play Asbury on Dec. For up-to-date schedule information, visit athletics.
